asp.net 2 customer logon controls

Ok, humour me..
I know asp.net has membership controls and database. But I find them a 'tank' for when I only need 'mini' car.


I want to use Forms Authentication in asp.net 2.0..To allow multi levels of security to different membership windows folders of aspx pages.

This is the simple functionality that i want for my user login in process
1) Logon with username and password
2) save secured cookie on client, with session user variable
3) allow user to change password once logged on
4) have custom control for lost password.
Thats all I need.
So can I do Forms Authentication with custom logon controls, any examples around, please advise me......
