roles added inside visual studio not save in the sql server but users are being saved (wierd thing)

i use membership inside an sql 2008 server i have set the connectionstring for the data and for AspNetSqlMembershipProvider to be the same

but i have reached a strange case. Here is how it goes:

when i add roles from inside visual studio ->website->asp.net configuration utility
the roles are not saved inside the sql db with no error the roles seem to be created but when i check form management studio inside the db the roles table is empty!

but when i add users  from visual studio they show up in the sql db
the wierd thing is that no error occur's in the first case
any thought or suggestion?
