I have a dropdownlist that I want to populate in a certain way. What I want to do is associate a "hidden" value with each list item. Specifically, the dropdownlist will show a list of American states (i.e., Alabama, Arkansas, etc.). The users will be able to select a state from the dropdownlist...
...however...
...each state has an associated GUID that is used to identify that state in all the database tabling I have for the website.
So...what I want to do is somehow associate each state with its corresponding GUID in the dropdownlist. Is there some sort of hidden value that can be assigned to each list item (i.e. each American state) in the dropdownlist that can be read when the user chooses a state from the dropdownlist?
