Dear all,
i have implemented an authentication mechanism in asp.net 3.5 without membership providers but by handling the  AuthenticateRequest.
One think i have noticed though is that the authenticaterequest event is fired even for resources that does not require authenticated users to access (like javascript code, images etc).
As long as the authentication procedure spneds many cpu cycles .... is it possible to override this behaviour and disable authentication for resources that don;t need it?
I can see also that authorizerequest comes after authentication, which is normal, but i cannot find a way i could find out if the resource the user requests does need authentication (of courder i could check the requested file type eg for images) but i would prefer a better way to do this.
Thanks in advance!
