Setting up new computer:
Win7 Pro x64; VWDE 2008 sp1 & SQL 2008 Express with Native Client (named) MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER; VWDE 2010 sp1 & SQL 2008 R2 Express with Native Client (named) MSSQL10_50.SQLEXPRESS; *** need SSMS - 2008 will not install
and R2 changes my 10_50. Client to 10. ***
Old computer: Win7 home x64 (wife's laptop); I remember only installing R2 & VWDE 2010 a year+ ago and above was working fine. I built DB on 10_50. and I do not understand how (or if it can) to restore my bak from the 10_50. to the 10. as is seems
this is my only option.
At present I have Restore Point for (rework failure) but if necessary WHS is my backup. I've stopped the 10_50. service before trying to install SSMS R2 again - kinda grabbing at anything.
R2 install is very automatic and no where is there for me to keep the 10_50. Native client (default in Express with side-by-side local DB).
