We are developing a chat application and we are thinking to make this application to be a "push" kind of web application. i.e. whenever a message is arrives at a server it is automatically pushed at the client's browser. How can this be achieved in asp.net Ajax without sending a request from client side? And from my development experience i came to know that asp.net 3.5 webservices are highly in-compatible with browsers like firefox, opera and chrome. What is the best alternative to them? jQuery?
