Returning value from ddl in user web control

 Hi there,
 I've just built my first .ascx, a simple dropdownlist that is used repeatedly in my CMS, with a validator.  Here it is:

 
 <asp:DropDownList ID="Status_ID" CssClass="dropdown" runat="server" EnableViewState="true" >
<asp:ListItem Text="Choose One" Value="0" />
