can .ascx access the .aspx controls?

In my .ascx I have a button wherein when clicked I want to get the value of the textboxes in my .aspx.

Example:

 private void Button1ascx_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
  {
  string value1 = Textbox1Aspx.Text;
  string value2 = Textbox2Aspx.Text
  string value3 = Textbox3Aspx.Text
  }

The sample code above obviously would not work since the .ascx does not have direct access to the aspx. Any ideas on how I could achive this?
