read database common function

I would like to assign the data to my controls like text box which is not data aware controls.
I need write some code to read from database and all functions will be used in many forms.
I would like to have all those functions in one place.
I tried to create a module called mymodule in my app, but my form does not regnize the functions in the module eve nI declare as public function.
Can you please advise how I can implement public function in one module that all forms can access it that I only need to have one copy of the function and when I need modify one modify one place?
