Changing date format in asp.net

I am having a problems with a date in sql.  The following is what it looks like when stored in my sql field.
2009-04-03 11:09:20.473

What happens is that I load the dates into a drop down list for a user to pick, when I do this it coverts the date to the follwoing format.
04/04/2009 11:09:20 AM

When they pick this date it is throgh in as a variable in a SQL statement to pull data associated with the date, however since it is not the correct format it does not work right.  How can I make this date mesh with the DB date from the drop down.  Here is my code
