Binding a datagrid to a shared dataset

Hi ;-)
 
I?ve only just started programming so am probably committing several offences for which I should no doubt be hung, drawn and quartered, but we all have to strat somewhere?  Am using .net 1.1, VB and VS 2003. 
I?m trying to place some code in a class file so that it is re-useable from several different pages ? is it possible to do this with a dataset, then bind that dataset to datagrids in a different page?
In the Class file I have the following:
Public Class sharedCode
    Inherits System.Web.UI.Page
Public Shared Sub displayDuplicates(ByVal reqID As Integer)
