Accessing the controls defined in mater pages in content pages

I have some html anchor tags which are used as links n master page.When clicking the links it goes to content pages .When i view the content page I need to highlight the corrersponding  link in which the content page is opened
for eg : when clicking the home link, it should display the  content page home.aspx with the "home" link highlighted(Bold text)
How can i acees the hyperlinks which is defined in Master pages??
