I need to allow users to upload files so I've added a FileUpload control to my page. Immediately underneath it, I have a gridview bound to an array of FileInfo objects to display the files in the upload directory (which is "/App_Data"). I want to use an UpdatePanel around the gridview with an asynchrous trigger set to the file upload button so the grid updates when the file is uploaded. However, it isn't working. If I check to see if the page is valid, it returns false. Also, the HasFile property of the FileUpload control is false so I can't do anythng with the control. I have a RequiredFieldValidator associated with the FileUpload control to ensure that a file path has been specified If I remove the trigger from the UpdatePanel, it works. It I put it back, it doesn't.
Do I need to use the AsyncFileUpload control from the AjaxControlToolkit or can I get this to work with the regular FileUpload control?& ...
