alpha numeric autogeneration number

Hi,

i try to insert auto generation number in the database for example suppliercode should be

S00001,S00002 ....

in the vb.net code  i try to do like this  getmaxids= "S" & string.format("00000" ,cint(maxid))

but i am getting only S00000  i need to get S00005

current supplier code is S00004 I NEED TO GET S00005

please guide me very urgent.
