How to make the site load up faster ?

Hi There!
I was asked to make the website (http://www.hedleys.ca/home.aspx) load up faster.  And I come up the following 3 changes that will make the site load up faster. What else can I do to make the site load up faster. Please click on the top tabs such as "Nutritional Products",  "Grocery Products", "Body Care Products", "Pet Care Products", and "Garden Products". You can see how slow it load up the page.
We can do the following to make the site load faster:
1. replace the top menu with HTML, and CSS
2. use Stored Procedures for accessing the database such as get products from the database, ...
3. build one database table for each main product such as Pet Care Products, Nutritional Products, ...
Thanks,
May
