I'm really confused and hope somebody can shed some light on the issues I'm running into. Please know that I've searched everywhere for answers and I'm not the only one.
I downloaded SQL Server 2008 R2 Express with Tools from
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=12847 thinking I can edit/maintain an SQL Express 2008 database. I can't. It allows me to connect to a compact database. A compact database ends in SDF and the express ends in MDF.
Is the compact database the new express? Is there something that will allow me to edit an express database? Like management studio?
Once inside VS2010, I can open the MDF (express db) only after I delete the SQLEXPRESS folder in my users\...\appdata\local\microsoft\microsoftSQLServerData folder. But I have to do this all the time in order to use the database. The error is
