Accessing a gridview from a different User control

Hi all

First off apologies for the post I have a feeling it is going to be asy to accomplish! However I have been struggling with this for a couple of days now!
Basically I have 2 user controls toolbox and control panel.
Toolbox contains a textbox and a button - for searching.
Control panel contains a gridview.
What I want to be able to do is type in a reference number into the text box and search for that number - then display it in the gridview.


I came across this post - http://forums.asp.net/t/1279478.aspx however it is in c# and I no nothing about C! so if someone could give a walkthrough on which pages I need to do what that would be helpfull
