I am trying to connect to a godaddy SQL server DB. When I try and open the connection from my local computer I get the following error:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
I am very sure my connection string is correct, since I got it direcrly from their hosting management interface. Also, I called and asked if everything was configured correctly - and it is. I think the problem is on my computer. I activated my TCP/IP protocol - but I am very new to this.
I killed my firewall as well.
Thanks
Marc
