I am trying to learn how to use VS 2012 local reports. I followed the walkthrough and got one to work with a web site but I have a web application that I need reports for. To start out I tried the simplest report I could think of.
Create a new empty web application.
Add a default.aspx web form.
Add a DataSet1 with a Contractors DataTable.
Use the ReportWizard to add Report1.
On the default web page add a ScriptManager
Add a ReportViewer1.
In the SmartTab of ReportViewer1 chose Report1.
When I run the application I get this: An error occurred during local report processing.The report definition for report 'Report1' has not been specified Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
If I go into the SmartTag and select Choose DataSources and I select the Contractors data table VS crashes.
If I go to the OtherDataSources I can see under Page1ListInstances an ObjectDataSource1 but it is grayed out ...
