Passing values

hi, i'm having trouble passing values from an sql server to HTML hidden input values.

The test code from MSDN library work fine but as soon as i pass them from the server I get a "define" error, needing to define the PlaceHolder, which I didn't in the example. I tried PlaceHolder pl1 = new PlaceHolder(); but this didn't render in the HTML page after loading.

 I'm using this code at the mo:
