I have an anchor tag 'top' that should take the user to the top page, which it did before I used URL Rewriting. Once I implemented URL Rewriting, it does not work anymore. For URL Rewriting I used UrlRewriter. I tried creating a rule like <rewrite url="~/User/Profile/(.+)/top" to="~/Profile.aspx?user=$1#top" /> but the top anchor still does not work even when I create a link in the form ~/User/Profile/john/top. I read somewhere that # (#) is not accepted in XML files or is escaped. Is this true and how can I fix it? The rest of the links work without any problems, it is just the anchor tags that do not function properly.
