I can't figure out how to do this.  I guess this is pseudo code because it doesn't work and the syntax is wrong.  What I'm trying to do is get the number of "total seconds" in UTC time SINCE 1/1/70 for the exact current date/time in seconds.  This is vb.net...but I can read C# as well.  Can I get a hand.  I really don't understand the timespan class.  I think I need the timespan.
Dim currentTime As TimeSpan = DateTime.UtcNow.TimeOfDay
Dim oldtime As DateTime = DateTime.Parse("1/1/70")
Dim oldseconds As TimeSpan = oldtime.UtcNow.Second
Dim currentSecs As Integer = currentTime.TotalSeconds

This correctly gives me the total seconds for today.  However, I need the total seconds since a date in the past...?

Go to the complete details ...
