Returning the value of a checkbox from a group of checkboxes.

Hi
I have the following database:
ID     Name           Show(bit)
1       Rob
2       Sam
3       Mike
4       Steve
5       Bill
What I would like to do is:
1. Display the list of names from a table with a tick box next to it.
2. Check each checkbox to see if it has been ticked or not and set the value in the database to true(1).
How can I do that?
