This is a difficult question for me to phrase...
When you go onto a forum or any dynamic webpage that queries results from the server it only shows you a certain amount of the results then makes you go to another page to get more. I'm just wondering the most common algorithm to do this, both in .net code and SQL. I know most pages use an offset query string but how do they tell the database to offset all results by that amount, what would the SQL statements look like. I imagine it would somehow incoroporate a SET ROWCOUNT for the results... but overall I'm really not too sure how to do it.
