Need basic help with Forms authentication

I'm now beginning to use Forms authentication and would like some help.
I understand the web.config part which is already done. I also created the login page. My questions are:
I want to save a few pieces of information about the user once he/she is authenticated. I want to save FirstName, LastName, IsAdmin. How do I save this information? A little confused about the FormsAuthenticationTicket part.I was saving these data i.e. FirstName, LastName, IsAdmin in session variables and getting them from the session object whenever I needed them. Is this not a good place to save them?
