When a user posts a comment on my site I want an email of that comment sent to me.  Right now the email sub causes the user to experience a delay until the email process completes.  I'd like this VB sub to be async code - and this sub requires data passed to it (user name, date, comment).  I don't need to know if the sub executed successfully or not - it's not worth any kind of wait to see if the mail server is having any problems.  So, a sub is fine - I don't need a function to return a value.  I don't need any kind of "wait" for success/fail.
I understand in asp.net 4.0 there is a simple way to handle this but I'm having trouble finding an example of Task-based Asynchronous Pattern (TAP) for VB.  Thanks.
