on button click fetch 1 record from the database and display it in the next form textbox

Hi All,
I am new to ASP.NET and Web designing.
I have 2 web forms called Analyst home and Checklist. When i click on the checklist button on the analystHome form it has to retreive one record from the checklist table and show the result  on a checklist form .  I have the query required to fetch 1 record from the database.
I would need some help with,
1. how to write the code to retrieve the data from the database.
2. How to pass the values of the select  statement to the checklist form on button click.
Any help is appriciated.
