I've spent a long time developing a Web Application in VS2010 and have worked with Roles and Membership capabilities in ASP.Net. I'm targeting the 3.5 .net Framework as my web host does not yet support 4.0. But I've had no problems with Roles on my development system working on the ASPNETDB.mdf database running in SQL Express.
I used the Publish to Provider utility to create a Script and use SQL SMS to run the script while attached to my providers MS SQL Server Database. All seem to go well and using SQL SMS it appeared that the Tables were all created in the remote database.
