 A small issue with the abort method of XmlHttpExecutor is that it does cont call WebRequest.completed. Instead it gets the event handler list and raises the completed event as shown. function Sys$Net$XMLHttpExecutor$abort() {
if (arguments.length !== 0) throw Error.parameterCount();
if (!this._started) {
throw Error.invalidOperation(Sys.Res.cannotAbortBeforeStart);
}

// aborts are no ops if we are done, timedout, or aborted already
if (this._aborted || this._responseAvailable || this._timedOut)
return;

this._aborted = true;

this._clearTimer();

if (this._xmlHttpRequest && !this._responseAvailable) {

// Remove the onreadystatechange first otherwise abort would trigger readyState to become 4
this._xmlHttpRequest.onreadystatechange = Function.emptyMethod;
this._xmlHttpRequest.abort();
