In my company we've just started to create a new version of our main software. One of the requirements that has come to light is to allow the users to choose a set of events that they are interested in (e.g product description changed, order deleted, order delivery date modfied etc); they can then choose how they will be notified of these events instant message, e-mail, text message etc.
As a bit of background, the software needs to be database independent and will be written according to Domain Driven Design principles and will be using NHibernate to implement the repositories.
This is a new area for myself but having done a search on here it seems that I need some sort of publish / subscribe mechanism and some form of queue. Is this the right train of thought? Are there any suggestions on the best way to implement this?
