I have enabled security trimming (app uses forms authentication with roles) and it works properly for menu items that have a single level in the site map, for example:
<siteMapNode url="~/Admin/Admin.aspx" title="Admin" description="" >
</siteMapNode>
Menu items that have nested site map nodes fail to display even when the user has the adequate role permission, for example:
<siteMapNode url="" title="Charts" description="" >
<siteMapNode url="~/ChartBuilder/Charts.aspx" title="ChartBuilder" description="" >
</siteMapNode>
<siteMapNode url="~/ChartBuilder/RealTimeCharts.aspx" title="Real Time" description="" >
