I wanted to get some feedback on what common and/or best practices are for security of databases. I have been tasked with encrypting some sensitive information on a database. I wanted to get some opinions on whether it is better to use sql encryption on data at rest or use my own encryption on data in motion.
Only a few columns need to be encrypted, which kind of leads me to believe my own implemented encryption would be better. But, I wanted to get some feedback from developers who have experience in this type of situation.
