I have a DropDownList in the <FooterTemplate> of a GridView. A <HoverMenuExtender> provides a <Button> that when clicked activates a <ModalPopupExtender> which displays an <UpdatePanel> containing a couple TextBoxes. The user will fill in the fields, click the "Save" Button which adds the value to a SQL table that provides the data that populates the <DropDownList>.
Problem is that I can not get the <DropDownList> to refresh its items after the new item is added to the database. If I refresh the page of course it appears, but I do not want a postback otherwise the expanded nested GridView will collaspe and values selected in other <FooterTemplate> controls in other columns will lose their value.
I see no reason why I should not be able to encasulate the dropdown in a UpdatePanel and refresh it without reposting the entire page.
