I am using listboxex but having problems with them working across browsers consistently, especially safari. What would be the best replacement for a listbox

I have very inconsisten results using listboxes with browsers, and am looking at the best control to replace it. I want something that I can simply add items to as easy as the listbox.
I don't need all the featurs of the listview or gridview. Is there a lightweight control that works across all browsers better than the listbox.
With my Ipad, my listboxes  work fine, but with my new Mac Pro, the show up but I can't click on them.  It isn't a z-index issue, or anything else, iti something to do with safari, so I have deided just to replace the lisbox.
Any ideas?
