I am confused about forms authentication. I believe that the forms authentication module Authenticate event is raised when the application needs to authenticate a page. This will call the OnAuthenticate event handler. How does this relate to the AuthenticateRequest method in the global.asax file. Perhaps it is my knowledge of event handling that is confused because I haven'r programmed in asp.net for a long time. How does the AuthenticateRequest method get called? Is it called before or after OnAuthenticate? I presume the AuthenticateRequest code must somehow override the OnAuthenticate code.
