Is it possible to add custom methods in Membership class?

I'm developing an application connected with authorization and accounts manipulation, using MySql database with own complicated structure.


So there is necessity, for example, to use Membership.CreateUser(...) with some additional parametres, such as user gender or alternative e-mail.
And it is necessary to have some additonal methods to retrive data from database.


Is it possible in such case to extend somehow Membership class methods, or override existing?

 (Sorry for my poor english, i'm  foreigner, actually.)
