Reader (reading excel file, trim the text title)

Hi. I have 1 excel file that stored the different details at different years.
Meaning: spreadsheet A stored information from 2004 to 2006 while spreadsheet B stored information from 2007 to 2009
So I need to pick out the information and stored it as a year.
Example:
The header: Remarks on Awards/Others Received in 2005
I need to trim the "2005" from the header to be stored into my database. Any idea how can I do that?
