controlRenderingCompatibilityVersion aspmenu I for need this?

Hi,
I don't understand where is the problem.
In web.config I need If I use: .staticHoverStyle in css
    <pages controlRenderingCompatibilityVersion="3.5" clientIDMode="AutoID"/>

But always is my forecolor blue. I can't use white color if I use controlRenderingCompatibilityVersion .
I want to use hoverstyle in asp:menu but works only i use <pages controlRenderingCompatibilityVersion="3.5" clientIDMode="AutoID"/>

Please help
