How to convert a string "Fri Dec 7 00:00:00 PST 2001" to a date

I have  string in that format that I need to convert  to a date and the following did not work
"Fri Dec 7 00:00:00 PST 2001"
 
convert.todatetime()
CDate()
did not work
 
how would I convert this string to a date?
