Disable DataGrid Column Sorting?

I can't seem to find a way to disable column sorting in a DataGrid.  I've tried setting the CanUserReorderColumns to false in both the DataGrid class and in the columns (DataGridColumn).  I've tinkered with the ColumnReording and ColumnReordered events.  But no luck.

I basically want to hide the sort order up/down arrows that takes up the right most 20ish pixels in each header.  I'm dealing with rows that contain many columns, so I want the columns spaced closely together.  The sort icon, whether visible or not, covers up valuable header real estate, so I want them gone.

Does anyone have a solution to this issue?
