I built a CMS system for an Intranet of around 2000+ staff , everything works fine but I am sure that things could be a bit better.
Let's take the home page as an exemple. The page itself displays news titles which is extracted from a sql server db.
This mean that comes 9 am I can have potentially hundreds of request to the database asking for the same information ( ie populating the homepage with the news titles ).
Might be a dumb question but is it the way it should be ? or is there a way to request the information once and store it somewhere in memory on the web server or something like that. Basically it doesn't seem right to have all those requests in the same time for the same thing.
Any comments, conceptual ideas or keywords for me to search would be welcome.
