Title from label

Hi
I have a label on my page, which is getting data from a table.
Id like to have the page title as the data shown in that label.
I have tried:
        Label titled = (Label)FormView1.FindControl("Label1");
        Page.Title = titled.Text;
 
but it gives the error object not set to instance etc etc
Why is this? 
Perhaps I need to declare the control as an HTMLGenericControl and set the properties.. how do I do this in c#? if i need to?
