label value is not changing

Hello everybody,
 
I want to make the user updated through a label which displays the status after the deletion , updating or inserting a record. However, the label text is not changing at all.
for example, I assigned the text to the label under the Updated event of the sqldatasource.
Statuslabel.text= "Record Updated"
