Custom claims in Identity Foundation

I've a visual studio project which is STS aware (However there is no actual STS. It is just WIF httpmodules are there). Besides, I too have a custom httpModule tied with AuthenticateRequest event, with very simple code:

IClaimsPrincipal principal = (IClaimsPrincipal)Thread.CurrentPrincipal;
IClaimsIdentity identity = (IClaimsIdentity)principal.Identity;
identity.Claims.Add(new Claim("Name", "enableDeepak"));
identity.Claims.Add(new Claim("Gender", "Male"));


When the method is in scope, I could see that initially there were no Claims, and alter my claims got added.
However, when I reach .aspx page, there I do not see any of my claims but instead 7-8 WIF general claims. Why my claims don't persist?
