User Registration Form

Hi,
I'm making a registration page and I'm wondering what the benefits of using this whole createuserwizard is? I have the hardest time dealing with this thing and it's nothing but a pain in the ass. If I wanted I could just use a regular form that inserts the data into the database and uses sessions for my login. I notice that using the wizard and setting up role management throws a ton of stuff into my database. Is there any benefit to this over just making my own little form and going that route?
