I've been commisioned to put togeter an api system which generates data reports (you know clicks this week, conversion rate etc.) for ppc advertising accounts for google, yahoo and msn and export these to pdf. These reports have to be sent out every monday to the end client.
I want to make the system as maintanable and as easy to update as possible.. for example say if Googles api changes between versions.
I was thinking 3 tier, standard separtation between UI, BLL and DAL. In the DAL is where I would actually call the webservices and use the apis. in the BLL ill accept the output passed up from the DAL and do any custom stuff on it before passing it to the UI (the .aspx page(s) itself) for final display. But what about software patterns? Like within the bll and DAL? I guess I could use the factory pattern in the UI and let some object take care of creating one of the three types of report (Google ppc, yahoo ppc or msn ppc) but not su ...
