Hi.

I am doing some working with hashing passwords and am struggling with my stored hashed password in my sql server database.

I stored a password using HashBytes('SHA1', 'TestUser1') and the value 0xB2E12FE8D743607F95088288D048FDFA4BDC728E was returned from the function and stored in my table in a column with the datatype of VarBinary(40).  Doing this then added a load of zeros to the end of the value.  leaving me with this in my table 0xB2E12FE8D743607F95088288D048FDFA4BDC728E0000000000000000000000000000000000000000.

My main problem is that when running this function in c# code behind on the same password FormsAuthentication.HashPasswordForStoringInConfigFile("TestUser1","SHA1");   I get a hashed value of Go to the complete details ...
