I have a ASP.net (VB) page which will call a database stored procedure to implement a 10-20 minutes job. But the page cannot wait that long, so it always TimeOut, and make the job aborted. What I need to do for this page is: send a parameter to the stored procedure and verify if the status is ready. If the status is ready, and page will notify user in web page in javascript message box "Job is started, and email will be sent once it finishes.". And sametime, the job will kick off, and implement in database. I thought it will be something asynchronous callback method. But I don't see any simple coding that I can follow. Please help! ...
