ASP.NET application development approach

Hi

Like to know the best way to develop an ASP.NET application with below specifications

1) First read the user input from Drop down box control, then filter the data in child drop down control [Master - Child relationship]

2) Based on child drop down control selected data, display the filtered data in a control like Tree like structure

3) After reading the above user input generate a Report (could be using Crystal report)

Like to know: 

1) Is it standard way to use wizards provided in VS 2008 to connect to Data source for ASP.NET control ...
