Check box inside a placeholder inside another placeholder returning incorrect checked state

 Hi,
 I have a problem where I have one placeholder inside another placeholder, and some check boxes inside the inner placeholder. I can successfully find this check boxes by using find control but the check state return is always incorrect for these check boxes. Is there a way to get the correct check state for these check boxes? or it's just impossible when a placeholder is place inside another placeholder. Will be so grateful if someone can help.
